Moong dali Tikki
Serves: 4
  • 500gm wash and soaked moong dal
  • 1 medium size onion (chopped)
  • 2 tsp melted ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp Cumin seed
  • 2-3 piece chopped green chilly
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • Coriander leaves
  • Oil for shallow frying
  1. )Wash and soaked moong dal in water for half an hour.
  2. )Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pan.
  3. )Add cumin seeds, Ginger and stir for a min. when it becomes light brown add soaked moong dal and make it boil.
  4. )Boil the moong dal with little salt and water.
  5. )Now cover the lid and cook dal until it becomes soft.
  6. )Cook dal on low flame open the lid occasionally so that it does not get burnt. Add water if required.
  7. )When dal becomes soft and the water gets evaporated turn off the flame and makes it cool.
  8. )Heat 1 tsp ghee in another pan and add chopped onion,green chily and coriander leaves and stir till onion becomes light red.
  9. )Now combine this masala with cooked moong dal and mash it. Make sure the mashed dal paste is dry and coarse.
  10. )Divide the mixture into equal portions and roll it into round balls.
  11. )Shallow fry all tikki in a hot tava and cook it by adding little oil on both sides till it becomes golden brown.
  12. )Serve hot with green chutney or sauce.
1)You can cook dal in pressure cooker.
