Pizza, as we know, is a flatbread topped with vegetables, meats and other condiments to produce something tempting. When you check the meaning of it in Wikipedia, you will find it as a main course served for Lunch or Dinner. However, in modern times, youngsters prefer it during their snack time. There are still others like bachelors, who finish off their dinner by ordering a large Pizza.

However, today the main focus is on Veg Pizza, so it is basically a call out to all the vegetarians out there. Being a vegetarian is not easy especially because preparing a veg dish takes a lot of time. Moreover, you get limited options when it comes to trying different cuisines. It is here when Veg Pizza comes to your rescue, particularly when you are health conscious and love experimenting different cuisines all by yourself. What is more? This recipe as penned down by me is quite easy to make and is for all those who do not have microwave ovens at home.

A satisfying aspect of this recipe is that I have made use of olive oil because I know how much important your health is to you. This Tawa Pizza is loaded with veggies like red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, green capsicum and chopped onions. What can be better than a Pizza with a topping of veggies! To cut it off from blandness, I have added black olives that have a tangy flavour. To balance the sour taste, I have put sweet corns into it. So treat your taste buds to this mouth-watering recipe. The specialty of this Tawa Veg Pizza is that it has a crispy base and fluffy bread. For vegetarians, it is the best snack. Once tried, you would never want to go out on a Friday night to enjoy a fast-food. It is for leisurely evenings and Sundays when you want to have fun with your family.

My suggestion would be to add more vegetables and the ones of your choice to the topping. You will love it more than the non-veg Pizzas. The feeling of biting a fresh homemade pizza is heavenly. If you are pressed for time, try making them as a lunch box recipe. It hardly takes 10 minutes to prepare and 12 minutes to cook. For a family with four members, it is sufficient so cut slices of it and enjoy! J

Ingredients

For toppings:

  • Mozarella cheese as required
  • Pizza seasoning as required
  • Red chilly flakes
  • ¼ tsp black pepper powder
  • Pizza pasta sauce as required
  • red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, green capsicum, black olives, chopped onions, boiled sweet corns Thinly sliced veggies as required

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl put 2 cups of all purpose flour/ maida, baking powder, soda, salt, sugar and mix all the dry ingredients very well. Now make a well in the center and add yogurt ( I have used little sour yogurt for better result but if you don’t have can use fresh one also). Now nix it well with your hands and to make soft and smooth dough add water as needed. Gradually add water, do not pour at once otherwise dough will become thin.
  • Lastly, add 1 tsp of olive oil and knead it again to make smooth dough. Grease your hands with some oil and pat on top of the dough so that it nicely get coated with oil and does not get dry.
  • Once the dough is ready, divide it into two parts. You can also divide the dough into 3 to 4 parts if you like to make thin pizza.
  • Take one part of the dough and roll out in your palms and dust the counter top/rolling surface with some dry flour and roll it out with the help of rolling pin into ½ inch thickness as it will puff up little bit when its cooked.
  • You can also stretch the dough by using finger tips and make it flat.
  • Prick it with the help of fork so that it will not fluff up while cooking.
  • Heat non-stick pan on medium flame and when the pan becomes little hot place the rolled out pizza dough into the hot tawa and cook it on low flame for 3-4 minutes until it gets light brown from downward side.
  • After 4 minutes flip it over and spread pizza pasta sauce evenly all around the cooked side of pizza base. I have used homemade pizza sauce but it’s also available in the market.
  • Now sprinkle black pepper, pizza seasoning on top of the pizza pasta sauce.
  • Now spread thick layer of grated mozzarella cheese, topped with veggies as per your liking. Sprinkle little salt and drizzle little oil on top and all around the sides so that base becomes slightly crisp.
  • Cover the lid and cook on low flame for 6-7 minutes or till the cheese melts and base is cooked.
  • After 7 minutes uncover the lid and take out the pizza from the pan.
  • To give real Italian touch, sprinkle some pizza seasoning on top and to make it spicy sprinkle chilly flakes.
  • Cut Veg pizza into slices and serve hot.
