Pizza Sauce is a must have sauce for almost every party and occasion now-a-days. I used to spend an awful amount of money over condiments, ketchup, mustard sauce, red sauce, Szechuan sauce, and what not! But not anymore, most of my sauces and other condiments are now homemade. So that you know, there’s nothing like it. Today I’ll share with you the recipe of Pizza pasta Sauce; you can make it easily with some very regular ingredients, and it’s also vegan.

Pizza sauce in a white bowl kept on a wooden surface

Tomato is the main ingredient in this recipe, together with garlic and onion. The “western” ingredients needed are parsley, oregano and basil. With the advent of online grocery stores, today, nothing is out of reach. I store the spices and chilly flakes that come with the pizza from the restaurant, and don’t remember if I ever shopped for them separately. Parsley and basil are widely available in supermarkets; I get it easily available in the local markets. Olive oil is indispensable here. If you don’t have it, use sunflower oil, but avoid mustard oil, as it will infer the idea of pizza sauce, and the pungency will make it something else, I am short of the idea to describe it properly. I hope you get my point.

I have come across many people that think that pizza is all about cheese. But try having it without the pizza sauce, you will think you are having cheese sandwich. Speaking of sandwich, you can also use this sauce as bread spread, check out my Bread Pizza recipe if you like. To say the truth, whenever I make this sauce, which I don’t as frequently as other chutneys like mint or coriander, my children are always on the lookout for it. They have it with anything and everything, chips, fries, roti sabzi… even dal chawal!

You can store this sauce for up to 2 weeks, without refrigeration that is. But make sure you store it in an air tight container. It’s much like making pickles. Only, it is much easier. Keep the jar in sunlight, the taste will only enhance. If you are refrigerating it, then while using it, take out the required amount in a bowl, give it a little stir with a fork, and let it come to room temperature before you insert the pizza in the oven. This is only to enliven the flavor of the sauce. I have noticed it releases a strange smell, when I put it directly to heat taking out from the fridge.

Make your pizza at home, it is not only very economic, it is also healthy. No added preservatives or saturated fats.
