Onion Tomato Chutney Recipe with step-by-step pictures and a recipe video. I once read in an article, about the kind of foods that you don’t need to buy, and can easily make at home. So dear friends, I am going to show you all today a simple and easy Indian condiment recipe, of onion and tomato chutney that you can store in the fridge, and serve with Idli, Dosa or Samosa.
Onion Tomato chutney is a very popular South Indian condiment recipe, but due to its awesome taste, and smooth consistency, you can also add it to pizza and sandwiches as a sauce! Until and unless you don’t like onion or tomato (which is a different issue), on a general note, this onion and tomato chutney recipe is something very basic that tastes really yummy and chatpata, can be a versatile condiment that goes well with everything.
Make sure the consistency is a smooth paste, and no granules of tomato peels are there. There is no need to remove the peels, as it packs in a lot of vitamins. Just grinding it will do.
Note one thing that this chutney is not like the pickle. As you store it, it’s best to keep refrigerated. But refrigeration often tends to make the taste of food stale, so you can sun roast it to enliven the taste even more. But in that case, I don’t think it would have a shelf life longer than 2-3days maximum, but if you keep it refrigerated it can stay fresh for a good 5days or more. So use it as you like.
The best thing about homemade condiments is that it doesn’t come with preservatives or any other artificial additives. And that is why gourmet cuisine is so expensive at restaurants, since it’s made by hand, and is completely natural. Enjoy this homemade healthy vegetarian condiment, at zero cost. You can have this chutney as much as you want.
Here is a step by step guide to making onion chutney at home that is quick and easy. You can check out my onion tomato chutney recipe video on my Youtube channel, Mint Recipes.
