Learn how to make dora cakes with step by step photos and instructions – Is your son fan of Doraemon, famous cartoon character? Then he must know about Dora cakes. Doraemon love to eat dora cakes and kids too love them. I made this Dora cakes without using eggs and it’s very easy to make these cakes.

If you like cake recipes then I have also made some other cake such as- Tutty Fruity Cake, Eggless Biscuit cake, Mango Cake, Eggless Christmas chocolate cake etc.

If you don’t know what is Dora cake, then for your information, it is a shorter word for Doriyaki, which is a Japanese style sweet pancake sandwich with a filling made of gooey sweet treats like chocolate spread or jam. It is a kid’s delight, simple to make and can be very healthy too, since it has ample scope to sneak in nutritious ingredients. It’s popularly known as Doraemon’s dora cake.

With this dora cake recipe you can easily make these at home easily and your children will surely be loving it. My kids love Dora cakes.

There are never enough recipes for children’s school lunch packs that come with a guarantee of being eaten by the kids. Dora Cake is another such brick in the wall that has a high success rate. Moreover, it adheres with all other elements of school lunch box item, being very easy and quick to make, and the “on-the-go” food that does not require cutlery and sitting down. Just wrap it in a tissue paper and roam around the campus.

It is rather interesting to prepare, in the morning quietness, and does not cause much stress. I often make it early morning, while having a cup of coffee, listening to “bhorai music”, and in the meantime, coax my children to wake up for school.

The first time I made it, by learning from a magazine, which had no foreword about the recipe. I thought I would surprise my kids… as they love this kind of things. However, I got surprised instead, as they screamed “Dora Cake” the moment I served it! Then I got to know that it’s “Doraemon’s” favorite food. Now who is Doraemon? Ask your kids.

I tried to keep this eggless dora cake recipe as simple as possible. You can follow along with this cake recipe.

I am using all-purpose flour today; you can make it healthier by adding semolina that will also give this a good texture and taste. The filling I am using is homemade chocolate, which I have made with raw cocoa. Make sure the filling is such that does not spill, and is of a dense consistency. Keep the sides of the upper and lower layers as close as possible, nearly sealed so that the sticky filling does not create a mess, especially while biting into it.

The right consistency of the batter is very important, since you do not want your pancakes to be dry and hard. If you are a beginner, it is always advisable to make a small quantity at first. I, as a beginner, had the most trouble cooking with batters, another problematic thing being the pressure cooker. Therefore, I keep suggesting everyone to begin with the 2 nos quantity. Once you get the batter right, everything will be okay. Try not making the pancake too sweet, since you will be using a sweet filling too. It is all about balance. You can store the pancake for up to 15 days under refrigeration.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2-3 tbsp Condense milk
  • 2 tsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Put all the dry ingredients (all purpose flour, powdered sugar, baking soda) in a bowl. Mix it well
  • Now add all the wet ingredients (milk, vanilla essence, honey, condense milk) with the flour mixture and whisk it well so that no lumps are formed.
  • The consistency of the batter should not be runny it should be slightly thin just like we use to make pancakes.
  • Heat non-stick pan over medium heat drizzle some oil and wipe off with paper towel to make the pan smooth.
  • Take any standard size spoon or cups to pour the batter so that pancakes come out even every time when we make them.
  • I have taken 1/3 cup of batter and now pour the batter over the pan on low flame. Do not spread the batter with spoon; let the batter spread gradually by itself.
  • Cook on low flame till bubbles appear on the upper surface of the cake. It takes around 1 or 2 minutes.
  • Gently flip it over with spatula and cook from other side for few seconds.
  • Once both the sides are done, keep them aside to cool down completely.
  • Apply thick layer of chocolate spread/ Nutella/ Jam on one side of the pancake and cover it with another pancake.
  • Similarly make rest of the dora cakes.
  • Homemade Dora cake or Doriyaki is ready to enjoy.
