5 Delicious Must-Try Foods In Bengal

5 Delicious Must-Try Foods In Bengal- West Bengal is a hub for food. You think of any kind of food and you are sure to find it here. This state is not just about Macher-jhol or Roshogulla, it has a lot more to it. The dishes are for both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food lovers. Bengalis love food and the food culture here is a proper multi-course structure, much similar to the style of modern French cuisine. There is so much to find and explore in Kolkata when it’s about food. Bengali food is culturally vibrant, simply mouth-watering and delightful.

Let’s look at some of the best and most loved food in Bengal:

1.Luchi Alu-Dum

This has to be on the top as I bet that the Luchi and Aloo-dum you will eat in Bengal, you won’t find it anywhere else. It has some magic in its taste. It is a preferred Sunday Breakfast for most of us. Our breakfast is not complete without fluffy, deep fried luchis. They are made with maida but unlike puris. Luchis can also be enjoyed with sumptuous gravies and spicy dry veggies as they are simply a delight. Alu-dum is the spicier version of Aloo Sabzi which is mouth-watering. Fairlie Road in Kolkata is a popular hub for Bengali street food in the city.

You can call Jhal Muri the Bengali version of the Bhel. It is another popular street food that the city totally loves. It is made from Muri (Rice Flakes) and that is tossed with yummy and spicy chutney and some mustard oil, along with roasted lentils and coconut chunks. To fill your tummy in the evening, it is a good snack option to munch on. The best place in Kolkata to grab the Jhal Muri is Dacre Lane in Kolkata, that has also been appreciated and recognized by the WHO that claimed that the food here was the Best Street Food in the World.

5. Cholar Dal

Cholar Dal is a Bengali dish that is prepared with channa daal, especially during occasions or festivals in the Bengali Household. The Cholar dal is a little sweet in taste with a nice odor due to the rich spices that have been put in the dal like bay leaf and cinnamon. Coconut bits are added to give it a crunchy texture and also to add on to the taste. You can eat this with rice and luchi or puri.
