It is made by rolling a layer of chocolate sponge cake, with a filling inside, which is creamy and gooey in texture. Usually, chocolate mousse is the most commonly chosen filling, but I am using this combination of chocolate sponge cake crust and coconut based filing today. It tastes just awesome!

Chocolate Swiss Rolls Recipe in Hindi

This recipe is not only about the taste, but also about the texture and consistency. Hence, it takes some culinary skills, and the right blend of ingredients, as to create the most enjoyable, soft, creamy rolls. Its melt in the mouth concoction is a sensational feeling altogether.

You can have this cake at breakfast or a luxurious dessert after dinner. This can be a hot item to be served at house parties, and guests will be awestruck that you actually made it at home. Instant stardom, you know!

Swiss role is a highly popular 20th century, modern European dessert. I am not sure why it is called “Swiss role”, for its true origin is yet unknown. Nevertheless, this dessert belongs to the Europeans.

Chocolate Swiss Rolls

This recipe is not only about the taste, but also about the texture and consistency. Hence, it takes some culinary skills, and the right blend of ingredients, as to create the most enjoyable, soft, creamy rolls. Its melt in the mouth concoction is a sensational feeling altogether. I will advise you to be very particular about the chocolate you choose. It will be best if you make it with organic coco powder, however, if that is unavailable to you, you can use chocolate syrup to make things easier, and the taste will be impeccable still. However, it is perfectly okay to get a few cracks on the dough while you are rolling it, it actually adds to the “homemade appeal” of this dessert. Other than a coconut filling, you can choose the filling of homemade chocolate mousse, whipped cream or jam/jelly.

Ingredients

To make dough:

  • 30-35 pieces marie gold biscuits
  • ½ cup milk or as required
  • Cocoa powder
  • Coffee powder
  • Powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter

For coconut mixture:

  • 100 grams Dessicated Coconut
  • 2 tbsp Condense milk
  • sugar Powdered
  • ¾ tsp cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Break the biscuits, put it in a jar and grind it into smooth powder. Make sure they are well powdered
  • Transfer biscuit powder in a mixing bowl and add cocoa powder, coffee powder, powdered sugar and butter, mix it well. Gradually add milk and knead it until the dough becomes soft and smooth. Do not pour the milk at once otherwise it mixture will become watery. Dough should neither be very soft nor hard, it should be soft enough to roll it easily. Keep the dough aside.
  • Put dessicated coconut in another bowl and add powdered sugar, cardamom powder and mix it well.
  • To this add condense milk to make a sticky mixture. Add more condense milk if desired because if the coconut mix is dry you won’t get the perfect shape of rolls. Coconut mixture is ready.
  • Take butter paper and grease it with butter so that roll will come out easily.
  • Now divide the dough into two equal parts, take one portion of the chocolate dough, keep it on the butter paper and roll it with the help of rolling pin in a big rectangular shape just like we roll chapatti.
  • Put coconut mixture on top of the rolled chapatti and spread it evenly and slightly press it with your hands so that it gets set properly.
  • Now carefully roll with the help of butter paper to form a cylinder.
  • Do the same for the remaining dough and coconut mixture.
  • Keep these swiss rolls in the freezer for 2 hrs so that it will get set properly.
  • After 2 hrs take out the roll from the freezer and cut them into round shape.
  • Chocolate swiss roll is ready. Serve chilled.
